Mrs. Holt Harris and student | Mrs. Harris has taught art at Gaston School of the Arts since 2002, teaching student art, adult oil & acrylics and drawing, as well as the art portion of the popular “Taste of the Arts” program for 4-6 year olds. She holds a degree in Art Education from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, and a Master’s in Secondary Education with an emphasis in painting from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. She taught high school art in Gaston County for 13 years, and has been invited to teach art annually at Gaston County Commissioners’ School since 2002. She was also selected for the North Carolina Advancement in Teaching Program. Ms. Harris currently teaches art at Gaston Day School. She is known for her paintings and drawings of children, animals and homes, she has won many awards at juried shows. Her work has been selected for many juried shows and she has won many merit awards. She has also been invited to judge art shows locally. |
