Mr. Curt Butler, Adult Oil

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Curt Butler joined the Gaston School of the Arts faculty in the fall of 2007. He is a full-time professional artist and teacher. He has taught adults, college, high school and adult painting classes. He taught at Gaston Day School for six years and received the “Teacher of the Year Award” there. He has received many awards at juried  shows.
He started his own business, Butler Studio, in 2007, where he works on gallery paintings and business and private commissions. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kent State University and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He has studied under nationally-known artist Andrew Braitman of Braitman Studio in Charlotte, NC. His work has been exhibited at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, Morris Street Gallery, Solo Art Gallery and The Design Gallery.

Mrs. Harris has taught art at Gaston School of the Arts since 2002, teaching student art, adult oil & acrylics and drawing, as well as the art portion of the popular “Taste of the Arts” program for 4-6 year olds. She holds a degree in Art Education from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, and a Master’s in Secondary Education with an emphasis in painting from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. She taught high school art in Gaston County for 13 years, and has been invited to teach art annually at Gaston County Commissioners’ School since 2002. She was also selected for the North Carolina Advancement in Teaching Program. She is known for her paintings and drawings of children, animals and homes, she has won many awards at juried shows. Her work has been selected for many juried shows and she has won many merit awards. She has also been invited to judge art shows locally.

 
 
 
 Ms. Jennifer Kincaid, Adult Watercolor  (Tuesday mornings10-12pm)
   

Ms. Jennifer Kincaid has been a professional artist and workshop instructor for more than twenty years and a resident artist of Clayworks Studio in Charlotte, NC  for the past 8 years.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queens University in Charlotte and has done graduate studies at Alfred University, and Penland School of Craft. She was a resident Affiliate Artist at the McColl Center for Visual Arts in Charlotte, NC in 2001-02, and has been awarded Regional Artist Project Grants from the NC Arts Council and the Arts, the Blumenthal Foundation and the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. She is also a consulting curator for the Morrison Arts Initiative.  Her work has been selected for numerous corporate, public and private collections and she is represented by Blue Spiral Gallery in Asheville NC and Christa Faut Gallery in Cornelius, NC.  She has won numerous awards in juried shows for her works in watercolor, acrylics and clay.

                                                        

 Mrs. Susan Lambert, Jewelry Making (Tuesday evenings)
   

New GSOA instructor Mrs. Susan Lambert has 30 years teaching experience with all ages from elementary through adult.  A native of Michigan, her jewelry is exhibited and sold throughout the country and has won numerous awards at juried shows.  She has taught jewelry-making at national conventions and her work has been featured in Lapidary Journal. She has designed Advanced Placement curriculums and is AP certified in Art. She holds a degree in education, with concentrations in art and psychology, from Central Michigan University. She currently teaches art at Belmont Middle School in Belmont, NC.
