Instructor: Mrs. Caroline Wheless

Mrs. Caroline Wheless grew up dancing and performing in theatre and dance productions in Annapolis, Maryland. Her theatre credits include musicals such as West Side Story and Damn Yankees (where she sung the role of “Lola”), as well as various plays.  She toured the D.C./Northern Virginia area with a troupe of performers introducing live theatre and dance to children while studying at Mary Washington College. She has also danced with several technical dance schools including the Maryland Hall for the Performing Arts. Though trained in classical ballet, she enjoys Broadway style jazz dance and modern/contemporary dance and has taught dance for more than 15 years. She currently teaches and choreographs at Gaston Day School, and at Gaston Dance Theatre in Gastonia. She is married with two children.

Instructor:  Mrs. Mary Kane

Mrs. Mary Kane has appeared in leading roles in musicals and plays since high school.  A graduate of Belmont Abbey College and UNC-Charlotte, she has sung and acted in productions with the Abbey Players in Belmont, Theatre Charlotte, Little Theatre of Gastonia and Central Piedmont Community College.  Among her favorite roles are Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, Berthe in Pippin, Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast and Ouiser in Steel Magnolias.  She is certified in elementary education and began teaching with Gaston County Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools in 1982. She also taught kindergarten at Gaston Day School from 1999-2007.  She has taught at Gaston School of the Arts since 2008. She is married with two children.

Instructor:  Mrs. Becky Reger

Mrs. Reger has been an actress, teacher and director during her entire career.  She was a middle school and high school theatre teacher from 1980-2001 and has participated in community theatre since 1979.  She has directed more than 50 productions, including Hansel and Gretel, Peter Pan, Our Town, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Wizard of Oz, The Boys Next Door, The Diviners and Winnie the Pooh.  She and taught many theatre workshops for students and adults. Her favorite acting role was playing the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University. She retired from her full-time job in 2001, and she and her husband enjoy traveling, grandchildren and 7 cats.
