Mrs. Anastasia Carson, Tuesday Art Classes For Young People  | Mrs. Anastasia Carson began teaching at Gaston School of Arts in fall, 2006, where she taught adult watercolor for two years. She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. She has also taught art for the Art Guild in Houma, LA., and for Nichol State University in Thibodaux, LA. She has won prizes in many juried shows and has had solo exhibitions in Virginia, Washington and North Carolina. She is represented by The Frame Gallery in Gastonia, Broadway Galleries in Virginia and Simply Divine in Charleston, SC, and her work is exhibited in many public and private collections. She is married with two girls, and is a Girl Scout leader. |
Mr. Tim Stiles, Thursday Art Classes for Young People  | Mr. Tim Stiles holds a B.F.A. degree in painting and ceramics from Winthrop College. He currently teaches art at Ashbrook High School and has taught art at Gaston College and at W.A. Bess Elementary and New Hope Elementary in Gaston County. His work has been exhibited and won prizes in many juried shows. He has taught pottery and art at GSOA’s summer camps since 2005. He is married with two children. |
Mrs. Chris Tessnear YMCA After School Art
Mrs. Tessnear | Mrs.Chris Tessnear holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University and has many years of teaching experience with elementary age school children in North Carolina schools. She began her study of art with Anne Godfrey in Lincolnton, NC, and has been exposed to many different artistic styles by studying with Joe McLaurin, Harris Hold, Shirley Landgraf, Harriet Goode, Sue Neerincx, A. B. Snow, Dorothy Shoemaker, John Brady, Steve Jordan, David Estey, Rich Chin, and Frank Webb, and at Northlight Art School. She was a co-founder and manager of Art One Gallery in Gastonia, and began teaching art classes for children at Gaston School of the Arts in 2003. Her own work is primarily in watercolor, but she also enjoys mixed media. She has won merit awards in Gaston County Art Guild’s shows and has been selected to judge art shows locally. Mrs. Tessnear is married and has one son. |
