Painting and Drawing
Instructor: Greta Marie Carlos
This class is meant to teach adult students the principles of drawing and painting subject matter that they actually see. The student will learn techniques and design principles through the use of graphite, charcoal, and earth-toned crayons on paper and other surfaces, oil pastels, oil paint, acrylic paint, and water-soluble oils. Students in the class will all be at different levels on their artistic journey. Adults only.

Introduction to Drawing, Watercolor & More
Instructor: Mike Ericsson
This is class is an introduction to drawing and watercolor painting. It is meant to teach students basic drawing skills and watercolor techniques as well as design principles that will be utilized throughout the class. No previous art experience is necessary. Adults only.

Oil Painting Class
Instructor: Frederick Hasenzahl
Beginner/intermediate oil painting classes for older students and adults are available for the fall/spring semesters for 2-hour class is held once a week. In these classes, we will be focusing on still life. During all studio classes, I work with the students both as a group and individually to help them not only with their materials and techniques, but also instruct them in using basic academic art principles such as visualizing, line and form, composition, light and dark contrasts, colour theory, creativity and objective critique(which will include time for classroom interactive discussion critiques). Each student, no matter what level of experience will be welcomed and encouraged as they learn and practice their skills in expressing their creative ideas in oil painting.

Drawing Class

Beginner/intermediate drawing classes for older students and adults are available for the fall/spring semester in which one-hour sessions will be held once per week. In these classes, we will be focusing on figurative drawing, still life, and landscapes. During all studio classes, I work with the students both as a group and individually to help them not only with their materials and techniques, but also instruct them in using basic academic art principles such as visualizing, drawing in one- and two-point perspective, line and form, composition, light and dark contrasts.

Introduction to Drawing & Painting (Beginners)
Instructor: Janie Oglesby
This course is for those who “can’t even draw a stick figure”. We start with the fundamentals in this beginners course focused on developing technique through drawing and painting exercises. The course will escalate in difficulty as the students progress. Adults only.

Advanced Painting & Drawing
Instructor: Janie Oglesby
This is a class for adults with art experience or those looking for a challenge. Students will learn about lesser known mediums and techniques. Gel additives, canvas stretching, and color theory are some of the areas that will be covered.
Class Times: During Fall and Spring Semesters, Tuesdays, 12:30-2:00 PM; Cost: $95 per month

Linoleum & Woodblock Printing
8-Week Summer Workshop
Instructor: Fred Hasenzahl
Materials:
• Linoleum or wood blocks will be provided (paid by student).
• All necessary materials, including linoleum blocks, carving tools, printing ink, and surfaces to print on (paper) will be provided. (Woodcut tools not supplied and to be purchased by the student.)
• Optional: Participants are welcome to bring their own tools or materials for added creativity.
Description of class:
This workshop is designed for both beginners and those with some experience in printmaking is a hands-on introduction to the art of printmaking, where you’ll learn to design, carve, and print unique patterns on paper using simple tools and materials. You’ll leave with a finfished piece and the skills to continue creating at home.
What you'll learn:
Design and Carving: Learn to create simple designs and transfer them onto a linoleum or rubber block
Printing Techniques: Explore different methods of inking and printing, including rolling ink onto the block and transferring it to your chosen surface.
Experimentation: You'll have the opportunity to experiment with different colors, patterns, and printing methods in using your creative instincts and expression.
Block prints that you create can be suitable for matting and framing.
Class Times: Thursdays 6:30-8:00 PM

Terracotta Sculpture: From Clay to Creation 8-Week Summer Workshop

Materials:
• Terracotta clay will be provided (paid by student).
• Basic sculpting tools will be available for use during the workshop.
• Optional: Participants are welcome to bring their own tools or materials for added creativity.
Description of the class:
This terracotta sculpture workshop will focus on hands-on clay sculpting, covering techniques like modeling, handling clay, and firing, culminating in students creating their own terracotta sculptures. This workshop is designed for both beginners and those with some experience in clay sculpting. Participants will learn the fundamentals of working with terracotta clay, a traditional and versatile medium for creating sculptures that can be molded, shaped, and then fired in a kiln to create durable and unique sculptures such as figures and busts, animals, and reliefs, etc.
What you'll learn:
• Clay Handling: Learn how to prepare, knead, and work with terracotta clay, understanding its properties and behavior.
• Sculpting Techniques: Explore basic sculpting techniques, including modeling, carving, and adding details to your creation.
• Building a Sculpture: Learn how to build a sculpture from a base to a finished piece, focusing on form, proportion, and detail
• Firing and Finishing: Understand the importance of proper drying and firing techniques and learn about optional finishing techniques like glazing or painting.
• Creating Your Own Sculpture: Guided by the instructor, you will create your own terracotta sculpture, taking your newfound skills and knowledge to bring your artistic vision to life.

Pottery
Instructors: Tim Stiles & Janie Oglesby
Students will focus on the basics of handbuilding pots, and then wheel throwing. Handbuilding includes coil, slab, and pinch building.
Students will be able to graduate to an intermediate class, Pottery II: Select Form Building and eventually Pottery III: Personal Projects, which will be offered based upon interest. Registration is open.
Class size limit: 5 students
