Painting and Drawing

Instructor: Greta Marie Carlos

This class is meant to teach adult students the principles of drawing and painting subject matter that they actually see. The student will learn techniques and design principles through the use of graphite, charcoal, and earth-toned crayons on paper and other surfaces, oil pastels, oil paint, acrylic paint, and water-soluble oils. Students in the class will all be at different levels on their artistic journey. Adults only.

Introduction to Drawing, Watercolor & More

Instructor: Mike Ericsson

This is class is an introduction to drawing and watercolor painting. It is meant to teach students basic drawing skills and watercolor techniques as well as design principles that will be utilized throughout the class. No previous art experience is necessary. Adults only.

Class Times: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30 PM; Cost: $95.00 per month

Oil Painting Class

Instructor: Frederick Hasenzahl

Beginner/intermediate oil painting classes for older students and adults are available for the fall/spring semesters for 2-hour class is held once a week. This class will be focusing on a various subject matter including still life, landscapes, and self portraits. The instructor will work with students both as a group and individually to help them not only with their materials and techniques, but also instruct them in using basic academic art principals such as visualizing, line and form, composition, light and dark contrasts, color theory, creativity and objective critique (which will include time for classroom interactive discussion critiques). Each student, no matter what level of experience will be welcomed and encouraged as they learn and practice their skills in expressing their creative ideas in oil painting.

Class Times: Saturdays, 10:00 AM -12:00 PM; Cost: $95.00 per month

Drawing Class

Instructor: Frederick Hasenzahl

Beginner/intermediate drawing class for older students and adults on either Tuesdays or Fridays, once a week, are available for the fall/spring semesters. In these classes, you will be studying perspective techniques, line and form, composition, and light and dark contrasts. Subjects will include figurative drawing including anatomy, movement, and positions & proportions as well as portrait studies. During these classes, the instructor will work with students both as a group and individually to help them not only with their materials and techniques, but also instruct them in using basic academic art principles such as visualizing, drawing in one and two point perspective, line and form, composition, and light and dark contrasts.

Class Times: Tuesdays, 7:30 PM- 8:30 PM; Cost: $95.00 per month

Fridays, 7:30-8:30 PM; Cost $95 per month

Introduction to Drawing & Painting (Beginners)

Instructor: Janie Oglesby

This course is for those who “can’t even draw a stick figure”. We start with the fundamentals in this beginners course focused on developing technique through drawing and painting exercises. The course will escalate in difficulty as the students progress. Adults only.

Class Times: Wednesdays, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM; Cost: $95 per month

Advanced Painting & Drawing

Instructor: Janie Oglesby

This is a class for adults with art experience or those looking for a challenge. Students will learn about lesser known mediums and techniques. Gel additives, canvas stretching, and color theory are some of the areas that will be covered.

Class Times: During Fall and Spring Semesters, Tuesdays, 12:30-2:00 PM; Cost: $95 per month

Pottery

Instructor: Tim Stiles

Students will focus on the basics of handbuilding pots, and then wheel throwing. Handbuilding includes coil, slab, and pinch building.
Students will be able to graduate to an intermediate class, Pottery II: Select Form Building and eventually Pottery III: Personal Projects, which will be offered based upon interest. Registration is open.

Class size limit: 5 students

During Fall and Spring Semesters, Thursdays, 6:30 – 8 PM

Costs: $40 materials fee (includes clay block), $110 per month for class tuition
